Rabies Alert

A stray kitten found Thursday in Delran has tested positive for rabies.

The Burlington County Health Department today warned area residents to avoid stray cats and to update their pets' immunizations.

Anyone who had contact with the kitten, found on Moreland Drive, may have been exposed to rabies and should contact their doctor as soon as possible, county epidemiologist Jennifer Horner said in a statement.

"Rabies is transmitted through saliva by bites or scratches," said the department's William Weisgarber. "It's carried by raccoons, skunks and bats. We're warning people to be cautious. Don't feed wild animals."

KFC of Delran: Closed

Closed

One word says it all.  While I actually like KFC, if you've ever been to this particular location, you'd agree with me that you're not sorry to see it go. 

Dynasty Diner Shuts It's Doors

What has been a longtime landmark on Rt. 130 in Delran will soon be no more.  After roughly 30 years, Dynasty Diner is closing it's doors forever.  Located at the intersection with Fairview Street, Dynasty Diner has been a constant in the ever changing face of Rt. 130.

From what I've heard, the building will come down later this year and in it's place will be yet another drugstore.  I believe Walgreens is slated to open at this location. 

I personally think Walgreens is nice, but do we really need another drugstore?  Walgreens will join an already crowded landscape with Rite Aid, CVS, Target, ACME just to name a few.    

Time For Spring Clean Up

Believe it or not, it's officially Spring!  You just need to forget that you're still wearing a heavy jacket and the wind is whipping around! 

Now is the time of year you'll start seeing people out and about in their yards and gardens cleaning up.  If you're like me and did not get all your leaves and branches out last fall, you'll have another chance.

Delran's Spring Leaf Pickup will run from April 3, 2008 to April 30, 2008.  If you have your leaves by the curb, the township will collect them. 

Same for branches.  Branch pick up will begin again on March 1st and run until mid October.   

What's the new restaurant?

If you've driven along Rt. 130 anytime over the past few months, I'm sure you've seen the construction near Millside Plaza where the old Lonestar Restaurant was.  Lonestar was demolished back in October 2007 and construction quickly began shortly after.

So what is being built?  A Chili's restaurant is on the way.  Chili's is a restaurant chain headquartered out of Dallas, TX.  From wikipedia, "Chili's serves American food influenced by Tex-Mex cuisine".  You can click to view their menu online. 

Regardless if you're a fan of Chili's or not...you have to be pleased that the site will be put to good use after sitting vacant for so long!
