The Council has been chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA to deliver its program in an all-girl environment.

Rabies Alert

From philly.com...

A stray kitten found Thursday in Delran has tested positive for rabies.

The Burlington County Health Department today warned area residents to avoid stray cats and to update their pets' immunizations.

Anyone who had contact with the kitten, found on Moreland Drive, may have been exposed to rabies and should contact their doctor as soon as possible, county epidemiologist Jennifer Horner said in a statement.

"Rabies is transmitted through saliva by bites or scratches," said the department's William Weisgarber. "It's carried by raccoons, skunks and bats. We're warning people to be cautious. Don't feed wild animals."

For information, call the county's rabies control line at 609-265-5789.

Castle Harbor Marina Sinking?

This past weekend the BCT ran an article about the deteriorating conditions over at Castle Harbor.  It definitely raises some eye brows as many have no idea about what is going on over by the river.  The best quote of the article has to be: "We have a government we can't afford and a government that doesn't do anything."

You can read the full article by Todd Mchale here. Some highlights...

"It looks like a hurricane blew through Delran and wreaked havoc on the Castle Harbor Marina.

While the powerful winds that blew through the region on Thursday damaged the marina, a number of people in the area say it's just the latest in a long string of events that have left the marina off St. Mihiel Drive in disrepair.

Area residents, businessmen and boaters said they haven't seen the owner in weeks.

We have fished out water heaters, cushions, wood and other trash from the sunken boats since the summer..."

The Delran school board also sweated out a close race as voters approved a $20.1 million bond referendum to fund renovations and additions to the elementary, intermediate, middle and high schools. The vote passed, 1,176 to 1,131.

“We are grateful to voters of the community that they made a positive decision on our students and district,” said Lee-Anne Oros, director of special projects for the Delran School District.
